Seminar on Swift UIKit & Modern UI/UX – Wah Campus (May 2025)
The COMSATS Software Society at Wah Campus hosted an insightful seminar titled “Swift
UIKit and the Future of User Experience Design” in May 2025. Delivered by industry
practitioners from a Lahore-based mobile app development firm, the session explored the
fundamentals of Apple’s Swift UIKit framework and its applications in designing sleek,
accessible, and scalable mobile interfaces.
Students were walked through live coding examples that demonstrated how UI components
interact with backend services and how responsive layouts are essential for cross-platform
compatibility. The speakers also shared case studies from apps deployed on the App Store,
offering participants a behind-the-scenes view of how commercial apps are prototyped, tested,
and refined.
Beyond technical demonstrations, the seminar also emphasised human-centered design,
accessibility standards, and ethical considerations in software design. Students engaged in
hands-on exercises where they redesigned common interfaces for improved usability, followed
by a panel discussion on career opportunities in UI/UX and human-computer interaction
(HCI).
Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many noting that the seminar
helped them connect theory with practice and deepened their interest in pursuing careers in
front-end development and design. The CSS team has since planned a series of follow-up
workshops covering Figma, Sketch, and prototyping tools, building momentum towards a
comprehensive UI/UX learning track for COMSATS students.
