COMPETE’24 Coding Competition – Islamabad Campus (October 2024)

On 10 October 2024, the Software Engineering Society in collaboration with the COMSATS Software Society organised COMPETE’24, a full-day competitive programming and problem- solving challenge at the Islamabad campus. The event brought together more than 200 participants from across CUI campuses to test their skills in algorithms, data structures, and real-world coding challenges.

The competition was structured into multiple tracks, including algorithmic problem solving, debugging challenges, and a creativity hackathon. Teams were required to solve timed problems, build working prototypes under pressure, and present innovative solutions to a panel of faculty judges and industry experts.

Beyond the adrenaline of coding under time constraints, COMPETE’24 was a platform for networking. Industry partners attending the event offered internship interviews to high- performing students, while alumni shared motivational talks on how competitive programming honed their critical thinking in professional careers.

The finale was marked by a live leaderboard reveal, where the top three teams received shields, certificates, and sponsored prizes including cloud credits and software subscriptions. Participants who didn’t win still left with invaluable experience, friendships, and inspiration to compete at the national and international level.

COMPETE has now become a flagship annual event of CSS, with plans already underway to expand the scope of COMPETE’25 by including AI problem tracks and international student participation.
